im located here in dallas tx. if i could find someone that would let me go with them to a dealers auction and bid on some cars would that be possible or would that be too much trouble for someone and who would be interested in helping me where would i go to talk to someone and what would they charge me for doing this i would pay.
If you knew someone and they could get you into the auction $1000 over the auction price plus auction fees would be fair. Remember, the person taking you has incurred great expense to obtain his license.
Why would a good car end up at an insurance auto auction?
Looking to buy a used 2009 vehicle right now with 9,000 miles. Seller states it was purchased at an insurance auction with a clear title. Autocheck confirms this info – single owner, no accidents, no thefts, no repossessions, clear title, etc. What might be the reason this car was at the auction in the first place?
I work for such an auction service.
Just because it is at an "insurance auction" that does not mean it was an insurance-loss car. We get cars all teh time from dealers and private parties looking to sell. These would be clean, clear title cars. They use our service because of our enormous buyer base, and the better likelihood of selling for them.
That said, beware of one thing. Just because Autocheck comes back clean, and hte title is clean, that does NOT give the car a clean bill of health. It happens all the time that we get a car that has been in an accident, rebuilt, and sent through on a clean title. Lets say I buy a car, but I have no insurane. I go out and run into a telephone pole. Since I have no insurance, Im not calling the police. I can’t file a loss claim either. So I take it to a body shop who offers to buy my car as-is. I sell it and walk away. Guess what? Clean title, no accident history. This happens more than you realize.
Before buying this car, take it to a mehcanic for a thorough inspection. Look for telltale signs yourself: Overspray on the trim, fender bolts that are the wrong color, poor wheel aligment, doors that have irregular body gaps, look down inside the engine compartment for scratches on frame components, bent mounting hrdware, pulleys that wobble. Even after that, get it to a mechanic who can put it up on a lift and really check it over.
It could be scenario #1, Scenario #2 or a third, worse case, where the accident claim has not had time to show up on Carfax/Autocheck yet.
Im going to a car auction, how much money should i bring?
I have about 1000 dollars, can i get a decent car from an auction? Or should i wait to save up more
Depends on what your looking to get. 1000 wont get you much, but also keep in mind that a 1000 dollar car is going to need some work before you put it on the road and that is going to cost money too.
Do you think buying used cars for sale by owner we can save money!?
Do you think we can save money if we will by used cars from owner?, I don’t think that i can save money if i will buy used cars from a owner. What is your suggestion.
You’ll save lots of $$$ actually. Just be sure that what you are buying isn’t a piece of junk and that you’re getting your cash’s worth.
Have been offered a position as an auction lister online for a nominal fee. Is this a true position or is it illegal?
If you want to take a risk even, go for a very very little amount to test. I’ll also advise not to use any large amount before you get a well acquaintance and a proven fruitful result.
has any one been to a police impound car auction here in orange county?

yes! my friend got her car at an auction for $900, but i dont remember what kind it is. i know shes had it for awhile and never had any troubles. i got my car at an auction too, bc the economy’s so bad right now, theres a lot of really nice cars that got repossessed and are going for cheap.
check out http://www.autoauction4you.com/, they have a list of all the local car auctions and how they work.
Apart from craigslist – how do I find used cars for sale by owner? All I see are dealer ads – help!?
I’m looking for a car that’s not salvaged title – that’s not listed by dealer. Do people not own their cars anymore? Why are all ads on craigslist, sjmercury, autotrader, etc. etc. by dealers almost exclusively? I live in the SFO bay area and would much appreciate advice on how to buy a "FSBO" for sale by owner second hand car.
fivewaters,
I am hear you on this issue. I totally understand. I can recommend 10 different car buying websites but 95% of the listing will be from car dealers. I would highly recommend a Paper called "Trading Times" which very few people know about it. This paper contains list of cars from private parties only. The paper is available at any Seven Eleven store or local public library. Wish you best of luck.
Which online auction site would be best for me to use?
I want to buy wholesale clothes and sell them online. Also, will the bulk-wholesale clothes come with tags on them? Or would I be better off to just open my own website? Thanks.
I’d go with ebay. Its an easy to use site and most people who want to buy something on the web go there, so you should get lots of people who want to buy it. hope this helps
Where is the best auto auction in ohio or surrounding areas?
i got my jeep from Altoona Auto Auction in Altoona PA its like… central (little south) PA. i got an awesome deal on it.
it was a re-po from the bank. someone couldnt make the payments. oh well. too bad for them.
and this place is great. they thoroughly check every vehicle before they sell them. there’s a website but it isnt updated regularly which is annoying. oh well… hope that helps.
How much do you think I might get for my car at auction?
I can’t decide whether or not it would be worthwhile selling my car through an auction. It’s a 1997 Renault Megane Scenic, in excellent condition inside, with one bump and a bit of rust on the outside. It’s mileage is 138k. No MOT or Tax.
Any car dealers out there who might know if it’s worth trying to sell it through the auction?
Many thanks. Oh the charge is £15 + VAT to enter it, plus 7.5% + VAT commision
Without MOT or tax, it’s only worth scrap value. I’d be surprised if it realised £100 to be perfectly honest.
I’d suggest Ebay.
